Member
The member of a district council is elected by universal, equal, direct, and secret elections of residents and has the authority to determine the opinions of local governments as a representative of residents. The duties ought to be faithfully performed according to conscience prioritizing the public interests. The term of councilman is 4 years and the Songpa-gu Council consist of 26 members.
Chairperson/Vice Chiarperson
District Council is supposed to elect one Chairperson and one Vice-chairperson from among the members by unsigned secret ballot and each tenure is 2 years. The chairperson plays a central role in the operation of the Council, such as representing the Council and supervising the affairs of the Council. And the Vice-Chairman acts on behalf of the Chairperson at the time of the Chairperson's accident.
Committee
The Standing Committee consists of four committees: the Steering Committee, the Administrative and Education Committee, the Financial Welfare Committee,and the Urban Construction Committee and may have a special committee of not more than 13 persons if necessary to examine a specific agenda.
Council Secretariat
Council Secretariat, establied to handle the council affairs, has 40 staffs including the Secretary-Genaral.
